The Public Prosecution Service’s consultation on its Guidelines for the Prosecution of Young People was issued on 7 February 2019 for a period of 12 weeks. The aim of the consultation was to seek a wide range of views to inform the development of the Guidelines. A number of subsequent extensions were made to the closing date for the consultation in order to maximise stakeholders’ opportunity to respond. The final closing date was 31 October 2019. All comments were taken fully into consideration, and a summary of the points raised is set out in the document below.
